Custom Underwear Manufacturing - Best Practices

What are the best fabrics for underwear?

Underwear comes into direct contact with skin, usually sticks completely to skin and being worn all the day. The fabric must be highly skin friendly and comfortable.

Natural fabrics, Cotton, modal, bamboo, Tencel/lyocell are the best for undergarments. Cotton is natural, breathable and keeps you warm, especially when used as a thicker fabric. Modal, Bamboo, lyocell are softer than cotton, keep cool and drapes better than cotton. We use all of these to produce our boxers, briefs, thongs, bikinis and slips. Jersey and Interlock fabrics made of these natural materials, being stretchable, are the ultimate choice for undergarments. Adding spandex/lycra to the fabric makes it much more stretchable. Almost all of our boxers, briefs, thongs, bikinis and slips are being produced with cotton spandex, modal spandex or lyocell spandex jerseys. Light weight, 140-160 gsm fabrics are used for reducing the cost; heavy weight, between 170-220 gsm is used for premium quality and for colder climates.

Boxers and brief underwear, made of synthetic fabrics, especially Nylon spandex and polyester spandex are also in high demand due to their lower cost and higher durability. We don’t produce with them, being focused only on natural and skin friendly products.
